Plate Builder is a Kodak plug-in for Adobe Acrobat software that can add white, bump, and varnish separations (plates) to refined PDF pages.

What you need to know
Plate types
In Plate Builder, the following plate types can be created:
- White Plate: Is used as a base coat for foil or clear plastics
- Bump Plate: Is used to create enhanced color, such as rich black
- = 1 plate @ 100% black
= 1 plate @ 30% cyan - Varnish Plate: Is used to designate where varnish will be applied.
With Plate Builder you can:
- Create varnish or white objects from existing objects in a file
- Copy objects from one varnish or white separation to another separation
- Spread or choke objects belonging to varnish or white separations
Process templates used:
- Refine process template: Refine > Refine > 1st Ref-Normz
- Loose page proof process template:Loose Page Output > VirtualProof > VirtualProof.LoosePage
