The Copydot section of the Refine process template instructs Prinergy how to handle copydot input files:
- You can resample copydot files to a resolution that you specify. This can be done to match the resolution of copydot images in the refined 1-up artwork to that of the output device. For good performance in Prinergy, the Copydot JTP also reformats images so that copydot images be tiled 2048 x 2048 dpi and G4 compressed.
Note: The Adobe Extreme technology Normalizer has a limit of 32,000 pixels for images. Large copydot images from non-Renaissance scanners could fail in the Normalizer. Reformat the image using Tiff Assembler Plus.
Note: You can also resample copydot images during final output instead of during refining (so that you can pick output device later in the workflow), as well as apply dot gain curves.
- You can also generate low-resolution images that Prinergy Workflow Packaging Automation Expansion Pack uses when you use the Publish PDF feature.
When you enable the Copydot section, the system automatically reformats copydot images for optimal performance during output. Disable the Copydot section only for one or more of the following reasons:
- Your input files do not have any copydot image.
- You have already optimized the copydot images in your input files.
- You don't need alternate images.
