Overview

Why you should complete this activity

Copydot files are images of which each color separation or layer is represented in high-resolution (1200 ppi or higher), bi-level (1-bit) raster format. Color space representation in Copydot data is always CMYK (process color) plus additional color separations (such as spot colors), if present. It does not contain non-press color spaces like RGB or LAB.

Some Copydot workflow operations are slow and extremely CPU intensive, and should be avoided whenever possible. If it is not possible to control the incoming Copydot format, and you receive lots of pure copydot images, then using TIFF Assembler Plus upstream on a stand-alone workstation to reformat Copydot is generally a more cost-effective solution to reformatting than doing so in the Copydot JTP during refine. However, if you receive Copydot images which are already embedded in a document (for example, in QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign), then the Copydot JTP is the only option.

In this activity, you will turn on the Copydot JTP and refine an input file embedded with copydot images. Copydot data can be stored in EPS, DCS or TIFF.
